#NUWAVEMAYAN sketch of the day
Today I launched #nuwavemayan sketch of the day on instagram. It's a way to share insight into my creative mind with the masses. The foundation of my art practice starts with a sharpie marker to paper, drawing is my favorite way to immerse myself within my creative flow. Llegaron Los Guanacxs Exhibition
Saturday, September 24th was the opening reception for Llegaron Los Guanacxs which is a pop-up art exhibition being hosted in Salvadoran restaurant, El Rincon in Sparks, NV. The exhibition will show through the end of October, 2022. This exhibition consists of four Salvadoran-American artists, including myself as we aim to share our artwork in an accessible space to not only connect with the Salvadoran community but the community that frequents the restaurant. RTA AWARDS 2022 - Winner in Fine Art in Mixed Media
The Reno Tahoe International Art Show, which ran for the first time September 8-11, 2022 also hosted their inaugural Reno Tahoe Artist (RTA) Awards, where I had the honor and opportunity to be a finalist in their Excellence in Fine Art in Mixed Media category. The winners of each category were announced at the RTA Awards. I'm very grateful to share that I won the category. Book Cover - Introduction to Latinx Studies
I had the opportunity of collaborating with Dr. Lydia Huerta Moreno and Dr. Christina Sanchez Volatier on the cover art for their book on Latinx Studies. Dr. Huerta Moreno suggested that we use my original artwork for their cover and that led me to design a cover with my favorite drawings. I have been experimenting with the concept of creating my own Deities. I was able to explore this theme in creating digital art with my original deity drawings which we used in this project.
