DIENTE DE LEÓN COLLECTIVE - PERFORMANCE 2019

DIENTE DE LEÓN COLLECTIVE - PERFORMANCE 2019

The Lights for Liberty vigil organized by the Diente De León Collective.

The intention of the vigil and performance was to create visibility and resistance in Reno to what continues to happen at the southern border.

During the live performance a recording of the children who are detained and separated from their parents was playing while a white man dressed in a suit handcuffed me, wrapped a metal chain around my neck, and then locked me in a cage the size of a dog kennel. The man then covered me with two gallons of imitation blood.

Inspired by my travels to CDMX and seeing how artists used performance to make statements on important topics. I too wanted to delve into performance to bring the harsh realities some are facing at our nation's border to the forefront.
